MNREGA is a demand driven scheme meant for providing 100 days employment on guaranteed basis with focus on improving rural infrastructure by providing labour work. Thus, the scheme is vital for uplifting poor people and rural youth through provision of employment. Study was conducted in Chotaudepur district of Gujarat by interviewing 100 selected beneficiaries through structured interview schedule. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage and correlation coefficient. Study revealed that majority of beneficiaries were of middle age mostly belonged to SC caste having a large sized family with no land based on MNREGA and other occupation for livelihood. Among the twelve variable only caste, annual income, occupation, attitude towards agricultural occupation and economic motivation had highly significantly effect while land holding and migration habit were negatively effecting on forming their attitude towards MNREGA.Keywords

MGNREGA is one of key component of the antipoverty strategy of Government of India counting as largest employment generating programme in world ensuring right to work in a country with a population of over a billion which is demand driven programme. It focuses mainly on rural most area where people have somewhat different surrounding that makes their profile. So, it is important to study such profile characteristics that helps to get deeper understanding about this programme. Present study was conducted in Chottaudepur district using multistage purposive random sampling. 100 MGNREGA beneficiaries both male and female were selected randomly. Data were collected using a pre-tested interview schedule. The findings revealed that majority of the beneficiaries were from middle age group, were illiterate or had up to secondary level of education, had large and joint type of family and were from SC and ST category. Membership in one or more than one social organization, Rs. 48,001 to Rs. 1,02,000 of annual income and were landless or had marginal size of land holding. MGNREGA alone or MGNREGA in addition to labour, agriculture labour and animal husbandry was the major occupation. Significant reduction in migration habit was observed after implementation of MGNREGA. Moderately favourable to less favourable attitude towards agriculture as occupation and had medium to low economic motivation.Keywords

The present study was carried in Kavant and Chhotaudepur Taluka of Chhotaudepur district in Gujarat state during 2014-2015 to know the benefits and constrains of MGNREGA beneficiaries. 100 MGNREGA beneficiaries both male and female were selected randomly. Data were collected using a pre-tested interview schedule. Beneficiaries were requested to express the benefits and constraints realized by MGNREGA which were collected, analysed and ranked. It revealed that out of nine benefits expressed by respondents, major benefits were; enhancement of livelihood security in rural areas, uplift of the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes and reduction in migration which were based on per cent, ranked first, second and third, respectively. With regards to constraints, three most important were; employment of hundred days is too less in present situation, lack of medical facilities near the work site and unemployment allowance is not provided in case of delay in job.Keywords

This study was carried out in Anand district of Gujarat state with specific objectives to study the profile of paddy growers and their adoption regarding eco friendly technology in paddy cultivation. The study revealed that more than half (56.00 %) of the paddy growers belonged to middle age group, more than two-fifth (42.00 %) of the paddy growers had primary level of education, nearly half of the respondents (46.66 %) had low (up to 10 years) experience, majority (63.33 %) of the paddy growers had membership in one-organization. Nearly two-fifth (40.66 %) of the paddy growers had medium size of land holding, less than one-third of the paddy growers (30.00 %) had annual income ranging from Rs. 2,00,001 to 3,00,000 lakh, more than two-fifth (41.33 %) of the paddy growers had medium level of extension contact, slightly more than half (52.67 %) of paddy growers had medium level of mass media exposure, slightly more than half (52.00 %) of the paddy growers had medium degree of economic motivation, majority (70.67 %) of the paddy growers had medium risk orientation. More than three-fifth (62.00 %) of paddy growers had medium level of scientific orientation, more than half (53.33 %) of the paddy growers had medium level of knowledge pertaining to eco-friendly technology, great majority (70.00 %) of the paddy growers had neutral attitude towards global warming and more than half (53.33 %) of the respondents had medium level of adoption of eco friendly technology in paddy cultivation.Keywords
